On
March 4, 2023, in celebration of World Engineering Day, the Philippine Society
of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers (PSABE) National, through the PSABE
Region IV-A Chapter, spearheaded a Tree Growing Activity in Magallanes, Cavite.
Hosted by the PSABE Cavite Chapter in collaboration with the Magallanes Local
Government Unit (LGU) and the Provincial Government Environment and Natural
Resources Office (PGENRO), the initiative aimed to promote environmental
stewardship and sustainability among engineers and the local community.
The
activity was held at Buhay Forest Summit 3 in Ramirez, Magallanes, Cavite,
where around 300 seedlings of native trees, including Narra, Acacia, and
Caballero, were planted. These species were carefully chosen for their
ecological and economic importance in promoting biodiversity and enhancing the
resilience of local ecosystems.
PSABE
Region IV-A officers, provincial chapter officers and members, along with
PSABE-PPG chapter officers, actively participated in the event, showcasing the
unity and commitment of agricultural and biosystems engineers in advancing
sustainable practices. This collaborative effort also reflected the
organization’s dedication to addressing climate change and environmental
challenges through engineering solutions.
The tree planting event marked PSABE's significant contribution to World Engineering Day, emphasizing the role of agricultural and biosystems engineers in shaping a sustainable future by integrating green practices into engineering solutions. This initiative is one of many ongoing efforts by PSABE to lead in environmental preservation and support local communities across the country.
